Lisa Grainger
Biography
Lisa has held a number of lay and regulatory roles starting in 1996 as a lay chair for the NHS Independent Review Panel process designed to investigate and resolve complaints against NHS providers. Since then she has been an Associate to the General Medical Council, a lay partner to the Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board, an associate to the Healthcare Commission and an independent investigator of complaints against planning, parking and environmental health service providers. Lisa is currently a lay member for the Royal College of Physicians, and is a member of the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP(UK)) Clinical Examining Board and the Joint Royal Colleges of Physicians Training Board Management and Policy Board.
Lisa started her career in the charity sector working with people with disabilities and employers to improve career opportunities for people with physical and learning disabilities. She then moved into local government, working in a number of performance and service improvement roles, starting in front-line services including refuse collection and street cleansing and ending with strategic development work as Head of Quality Improvement.
Lisa is now freelance, specialising in organisation and people development, change management and work-life balance strategies, and she facilitates leadership development programmes for the public and private sectors. She has published research on management styles in high performing public services and work life balance strategies. She has held interim leadership roles including Organisational Development Advisor for the Olympic Delivery Authority, leading on their remuneration and people strategy, and Director of Organisational Development for Freedom from Torture – the Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture.
Lisa lives in London with her partner Roger and their two cats.
