Alice McLeish
BVM&S PgDip (Conservation Medicine) MRCVS
Biography
Alice graduated from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh in 2016, where she also grew up. She moved to the New Forest after graduation for a small animal job which just seemed to fit her - which was proven right as she has worked there ever since! She also previously worked part time as a wildlife vet and achieved her PgDip in Conservation Medicine (also from Edinburgh), but though wildlife and conservation remains important to her outside her career, her main clinical love is in surgery and the provision of this in the first opinion practice. To this end she is just finishing a surgery certificate with Improve International.
She is passionate about the future of the profession and loves having work experience and EMS students; is a registered VetGDP adviser and is a clinical coach for student nurses - and hopes that by being on council she will be able to represent the views of many by being a very ordinary first opinion practitioner but with lots of thoughts on the direction the profession is going.
When not at work, Alice can often be found training (slowly) for her next ultramarathon, playing woodwind instruments in bands, fitting her life around watching MotoGP races, reading every book she can get her hands on, and seeing if it is possible to cook everything in an air fryer (so far so good).
