John Mark Castle

Biography

Mark Castle is the Chief Executive of the Field Studies Council, an environmental education charity, which he joined from the charity, Victim Support. Prior to that he was Chief Executive of the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners, which he joined directly from the British Army.

Mark was born in Irvine, Ayrshire. He joined the British Army from school in 1978 and in a career that spanned 31 years he trained and taught at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, graduated from the Army Staff College and commanded his regiment, the King's Own Scottish Borderers. During his service he travelled extensively and served on operations in Northern Ireland, Bosnia, and Iraq.

Mark lives in Shropshire and is married to Frances with three children. They have three dogs and two horses.
