Claire McLaughlan
Biography
Claire is an independent consultant undertaking a portfolio of assignments in the NHS and private health sectors. Most of Claire's work is concerned with individual and team performance management; she provides advice, support and action planning and undertakes investigations, reviews and inquiries.
Claire originally trained and worked as a nursing officer in the Royal Navy specialising in intensive care and health professional education. A change in direction saw Claire studying law and qualifying as a barrister. She was called to the Bar (Inner Temple) in 2005.
Claire then became Head of Fitness to Practise at the Nursing and Midwifery Council before she moved to the National Clinical Assessment Service (NCAS) becoming, most latterly, an Associate Director. At NCAS Claire developed her ongoing interest in performance management and individual remediation, re-skilling and rehabilitation and the dynamics, culture and communication within teams.
As well as her independent work Claire is a member for NHS England's Performance Advisory Groups and a Chair for NHS England's Performers List Decision making panels. She is also an Invited Review panellist for the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.
