Ms Sally Bowden BSc(Hons)CertEd RVN
Biography
Sally Bowden qualified as a veterinary nurse in 1990 and spent ten years working in general practice before becoming a lecturer and assessor in veterinary nursing and related subject areas.
After five years, she returned to practice part-time as a consulting nurse and assessor, combining this role with running a vet nursing CPD and education consultancy business.
Moving to New Zealand in 2006, she worked in a surgical referral practice and in education, until her return to the UK in 2010. Sally then ran a vet nursing education consultancy service and was also the principal examiner for a veterinary nursing awarding body until she returned to college life as a peripatetic assessor in 2013.
Sally has contributed to several veterinary nursing textbooks and has also written her own anatomy and physiology book. She is a past associate editor of the Veterinary Nursing Journal.
She has served on RCVS VN Council, being Vice Chair between 2001 and 2004. She has also been a senior examiner and question writer for the RCVS and the BVNA. As well as veterinary nursing education and assessment, Sally’s interests include the extended role of the vet nurse, in particular the nurse/client interface.
