Dr Charles Ross MRCVS
Biography
Charles has had experience of a wide range of veterinary environments during his professional career. Initially he worked in large animal, equine and mixed practice, then established his own mixed but later 100% small animal practice before retiring from partnership to locum in both private and corporate practices.
He has also worked for DEFRA during the BSE and FMD crises. Charles was an elected member of RCVS Council with a role on the Disciplinary and Education Committees and a special interest in veterinary nursing at a time when the RCVS was the awarding body for this qualification. He now works part time in the practice which he established, having been supervising the construction of a CT suite and the installation of a GE CT scanner.
Charles has recently been part of the new intake of veterinary surgeons employed to serve on the Disciplinary Committee in its current format and is looking forward to employing his many and varied years of experience in this role.
In his spare time, he has a long term interest in all things mechanical ranging from a Lightning jet fighter, which serves as possibly the world's most unusual garden ornament at home, to various ex-military vehicles and tractors. Charles is Chairman of the Lightning Association, which seeks to preserve the remaining Lightning fighters and to record the experiences of those who served with this aircraft in the RAF. He is also Chairman of the Royal Air Force Heraldry Trust, a charity dedicated to recording the heraldic badges of the RAF and the Royal Commonwealth Air Forces.
