Mrs Helen Rosemary Farrant RVN
Biography
Helen qualified as a veterinary nurse in 1999 and nursed in a variety of practices (companion animal and mixed) before moving in to veterinary nurse education as a lecturer and internal verifier at a further education college. Helen subsequently moved to a multi-site companion practice in London as Lead Internal Verifier and then Training Manager. During this time, Helen was responsible for in house training and providing a nursing voice in key committees, quality improvement activities,, clinical governance and benchmarking of clinical and operational standards. Helen was also Head of Centre, leading the team in setting up and running an employer provider college for the practice, which teaches Level 2 qualifications and the Diploma in Veterinary Nursing and was Designated Safeguarding Lead and sat on the college Advisory Board. Helen is currently Lead Professional Development Manager at Linnaeus, which involves creating career pathways and learning opportunities for veterinary nurses, as well as providing targeted support to individuals and practice teams.
Helen completed a top up BSc (Hons) in Veterinary Nursing and Business Management, is a qualified teacher and is currently completing an MBA in Clinical Leadership.
Helen has previously been a member, officer and Advisory Board Member of the British Veterinary Nursing Association and sat on the RCVS Awarding Body Board and Advisory Board for Goddard veterinary Nursing College. She is currently a member of the Veterinary Nursing Journal Editorial Board and an OSCE examiner for several Awarding Organisations. As part of her role at Linnaeus, Helen sits on the Mars Veterinary Health Education Council and Nurse/Technician Education Sub-Committee. Helen is a member of the Advisory Board for the Mars Veterinary Health Training Centre in Novara, Italy.
