Meet the PSS team
The PSS team manages all aspects of the Practice Standards Scheme and is the first point of contact for practices.
Our officers support a regional caseload of member practices with any day-to-day admin related to the Scheme. This includes setting them up on Stanley, allocating assessors, tracking evidence, and issuing certificates.
The PSS team works alongside our team of PSS assessors.
Find out more about the team:
Eleanor Ferguson - Registrar
Eleanor qualified to practise as a solicitor in Scotland in 1981, adding qualifications to practise in England and Wales in 1987. She began her legal practice in Aberdeen and Edinburgh, specialising in litigation and continued in that role in Dorset.
Eleanor has also spent a number of years overseas, including over 10 years advising on inward investment and commercial projects in Asia and Egypt.
In July 2004 Eleanor joined the RCVS to bring the Practice Standards Scheme into being. She has looked after the development of the Scheme ever since.
In 2005, Eleanor took on the role of Disciplinary Solicitor and in 2012 was appointed Head of the Professional Conduct Department.
Sarah Iddon - Head of Legal Services
Sarah qualified as solicitor in England and Wales in 2011. She has an LLB business Law degree, a diploma in Legal Practice and a master’s degree in medical law and ethics.
She has spent most of her career working in-house in the not-for-profit sector for major charitable organisations, working in a variety of senior roles managing and leading high performing teams.
Sarah begun her early career volunteering before she qualified, advising and representing clients in the County Court. She spent some time in private practice and then worked in the not-for-profit sector, focusing on general commercial matters, contracts, and advising staff, senior teams, and committees on all legal matters.
In January 2022, Sarah joined RCVS as a maternity cover and accepted the permanent role in 2023 as Head of Legal Services for PSS.
