VN Futures launches new animated strategy at BVA Live

11 May 2023

VN Futures, a joint initiative from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) and British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA), is launching its new animated strategy video at the upcoming British Veterinary Association congress, BVA Live.

First launched back in 2016, VN Futures was set up to ensure that veterinary nursing is, and remains, a vibrant, rewarding and sustainable profession. The new animated strategy video, which lasts around three and a half minutes, highlights the important work undertaken by the project over the past five years, and the ways in which this will be carried forward.

Jill Macdonald VN Futures Project Lead, Jill Macdonald RVN (pictured), said: “When we first launched the VN Futures project back in 2016, we wanted to help support our brilliant veterinary nurses to get the most out of their careers by bringing them together to actively engage and create positive change within their profession.

“Our animated strategy video highlights many of the activities we have undertaken over the past seven years, including important projects such as the launch of our VN School Ambassadors Scheme, wellbeing projects in collaboration with the Mind Matters Initiative, the provision and creation of veterinary nurse-specific resources in areas such as leadership, and the inception of our Diversity, Inclusion and Widening Participation Group.

“Over the years, we have had the opportunity to work with some truly inspiring nurses, all of whom have helped the profession continue to progress towards a more positive future.

“As the launch of our video strategy coincides with Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month, we are inviting veterinary nurses to join us on our stand, F65, at BVA Live to watch our animated strategy and share their thoughts on what they love about being veterinary nurses via social media, using the hashtag #VNFutures. We want to hear from as many nurses as possible to celebrate our amazing and continually evolving profession so, even if you aren’t attending BVA Live, please do share your thoughts with us on social media!

“The future of veterinary nursing is in safe hands, and we look forward to engaging more veterinary nurses in our work in the years to come.”
