Snap up your place at the RCVS Share Jones Lecture
4 August 2011
We are now taking bookings for the RCVS 2011 Share Jones Lecture: ‘Who says you can’t be big and nimble: the fragility of giant land animals,’ to be delivered by Dr John Hutchinson (pictured) at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) on 23 November.
“The Share Jones Lecture offers veterinary surgeons, nurses and students chance to attend a free lecture given by an academic recognised as amongst the foremost in their field,” says Freda Andrews, Head of the RCVS Education Department.
“It's a prestigious event, and tickets are limited, so put the date in your diaries and make sure to book your place.”
A reader in evolutionary biomechanics, Dr Hutchinson was proposed for the lectureship by the former RVC Principal and RCVS Council Member, Professor Quintin McKellar.
Dr Hutchinson has been widely published on subjects ranging from the anatomy and locomotion of dinosaurs and crocodiles, to elephants and broiler chickens
Dr Hutchinson has been widely published on subjects ranging from the anatomy and locomotion of dinosaurs and crocodiles, to elephants and broiler chickens, and is the associate editor of the Journal of Theoretical Biology.
He holds a PhD awarded by Berkeley in the ‘Evolution of hindlimb anatomy and function in theropod dinosaurs.’
The lecture will be held on the evening of 23 November, in the Great Hall of the RVC’s Camden Campus, and refreshments will be offered afterwards.
Seating is limited so, although the event is free, tickets will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis.
