Removals from Register for non-payment
31 July 2008
Please note that this article is now archived. The veterinary surgeons listed below might have since paid their fees, been restored to the Register and permitted to resume veterinary practice. You are advised to check the RCVS Register to determine the current Register status of any RCVS member.
The removal of names from the RCVS Register of Veterinary Surgeons for non-payment is now complete, with 415 veterinary surgeons having been removed.
The figure is down 11% on last year’s 467, which is encouraging. The administration involved with removing a name for non-payment is time consuming and costly, so those removed for non-payment this year who have been removed for the same reason in 2007 will face twice the normal restoration fee, a total of £570 plus the appropriate retention fee. The figure multiplies for each year of non-payment. The College writes several times to members to remind them when fees are due.
It is illegal for veterinary surgeons to practise or undertake any veterinary-related activities if their name does not appear on the RCVS Register. The full list of those removed can be downloaded below, or the status of individual veterinary surgeons can be checked online (www.rcvs.org.uk/checkregister).
A veterinary surgeon whose name has been removed from the Register and who wishes to restore him or herself can find out how to do this online (www.rcvs.org.uk/restoration).
Alternatively, please ring Jenny Harris in the Registration Department on 020 7202 0739. If a veterinary surgeon has already arranged restoration, no further action is required.
