RCVS Trust presented with £6,000 Tour de Vets cheque
21 November 2003
RCVS Senior Vice President Stephen Ware yesterday presented a cheque for just over £6,000 to Dr Lydia Brown, Chair of the Board of Trustees, representing the funds he has raised to date for the RCVS Trust through the Tour de Vets.
The whole campaign, which Stephen initiated and which took place in September this year, has so far raised nearly £15,000 for a variety of veterinary and animal charities - well above the original £10,000 target.
Stephen spoke warmly of all the support he had received for the Tour de Vets initiative and thanked Lydia for her sponsorship that had kickstarted his fundraising campaign.
With donations still arriving at the Trust office two months after the event, Lydia spoke of Stephen's impressive efforts in completing the bike ride from London to Edinburgh and thanked him for raising such a magnificent sum for the Trust.
In particular, she thanked him for setting a very inspiring example for fellow Trustees and the wider veterinary profession to follow.
