RCVS and VDS Training hold online CPD event for overseas vets and vet nurses
18 August 2020
This September, the RCVS and VDS Training will be holding an online-only version of their regular ‘Introduction to the Veterinary Profession’ course for overseas vets and vet nurses who have recently started, or who intend to start, working in the UK.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year’s free event will be held completely online via the College’s GoToWebinar platform, with a series of video talks and presentations being made available to those who register for the course during the week commencing 7 September 2020.
The pre-recorded presentations include representatives from the RCVS, VDS Training, the British Veterinary Association (BVA), Vetlife and VetAbroad – a consultancy set up to help overseas veterinary staff integrate to working in the UK – as well as the first-hand perspectives of two practising veterinary surgeons.
Topics covered will include the Code of Professional Conduct and the RCVS advice service, how to secure your dream job, delegation to veterinary nurses under Schedule 3 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act, sources of emotional and financial support, and what to do if a complaint is made about you. The full agenda for the course and details on how to sign-up are available on our website.
A live Q&A session will take place for delegates who have completed the course and may have further queries on Wednesday 16 September from 7pm to 8pm. Questions can be submitted in advance of the event and a panel of experts will be assembled to answer them, although questions can also be asked on the night.
More information about the event can be found in the link above or by emailing our Events Manager Emma Lockley on [email protected]
