RCVS Academy turns one with over 10,000 enrolments
20 July 2023
This summer sees the RCVS Academy, our free digital learning platform for the veterinary professions, have its first birthday, a successful year that has seen more than 8,500 active learners sign up to the platform and 11,000 course enrolments.
The aim of the Academy is to support vets and vet nurses in meeting their professional standards by providing relevant, up-to-date knowledge. The platform launched with six courses but this has now been expanded to 17 separate courses, ranging from 15 minutes to 20 hours in length.
All of the courses are developed in collaboration with the veterinary professions to ensure they are relevant and accurate, and there is an emphasis on accessible and flexible learning, with courses using a variety of media and learning techniques including videos, activities, quizzes, scenarios and reflective practice and exercises.
RCVS Academy Manager Jen Ayers RVN (pictured) commented: “I’m delighted with the success of the Academy over the course of just a year. As we continue to develop new courses, we will listen to our learner’s feedback so we can improve the platform and ensure that we offer engaging and relevant learning to suit the needs of our profession. I’m looking forward to welcoming many more learners over the next few years.
“Remember that all Academy courses are completely free to vets and vet nurses, that we aim to help you fit your learning around busy day-to-day schedules and that completed courses can count towards your annual continuing professional development (CPD) requirements, with direct links to the 1CPD platform so you can easily record and reflect on your learning.”
Courses currently on offer include subject areas such as; leadership and coaching, working in the UK, ownership and consent, resolving complaints, CPD recording and reflecting and many more.
We have a few courses currently in development which include content for nurses returning to work, content on treating wildlife and stray animals as part of our ownership series, as well as a new course on confidentiality.
