President to host veterinary meeting in York
12 December 2013
York will be the location of the next RCVS Regional Question Time meeting, on Thursday 23 January, at the York Marriott Hotel. The meeting is free to attend, and could count for up to three hours’ continuing professional development.
Local vets and veterinary nurses will receive personal invitations to the evening meeting, but all those working in the veterinary team are welcome to attend and put their questions to members of the RCVS Council and Veterinary Nurses Council.
The evening begins at 6:30pm, with a chance to relax and catch up with colleagues over a drink and a bite to eat. RCVS President, Neil Smith, will then give a short overview of latest developments, before taking questions from the floor. The evening is expected to finish at approximately 10pm.
What’s on the agenda is up to the delegates, but subjects raised by guests at recent meetings included new vet schools, 24-hour emergency cover, the oversupply of vets/undersupply of VNs, microchipping and the role of the vet, continuing professional development and proposed changes to the Practice Standards Scheme.
Also in York, the RCVS will be running a free Practice Standards Scheme (PSS) ‘surgery’, offering private appointments with a PSS Inspector. For practices thinking of joining the Scheme, needing help with an upcoming inspection or wanting to ensure they’re meeting the Code of Professional Conduct requirement and practising to Core Standards, book your place now.
Free 45-minute sessions are available between 12 noon and 5pm on Thursday 23 January (places are limited, and on a first-come, first-served basis).
To book a place at Question Time, please return your reply slip or register online.
For further details or to book a PSS Surgery session, please contact Fiona Harcourt on [email protected] or 020 7202 0773.
