New Trustees to join RCVS Trust Board
22 September 2009
The RCVS Trust is pleased to announce that four new Trustees are to join the Board.
Richard Stephenson fills the space offered to an appointee from the RCVS Council. He graduated from Glasgow Veterinary School in 1987 and he is currently an active partner in a 16-man veterinary group with three small animal branches and an eight-man equine practice in Staffordshire.
He holds the RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Radiology and the Certificate in Equine Practice and is an RCVS examiner in Equine Practice and member of the Equine Subject Board. He is a veterinary examiner for the Worshipful Company of Farriers, and a member of their examinations executive group.
He has published a number of peer-reviewed articles on equine matters ranging from pre-purchase examinations to remedial farriery, and regularly contributes to the lay press in magazines such as Horse and Hound.
Ross Tiffin brings extensive experience of marketing and market research within the veterinary profession. He has been Director of Tartan Text/Tartan Business Solutions since 2002.
His special interest lies in the interface with the consumers who support veterinary practices and he is publishing a book on ‘changes in consumer behaviour’ this autumn. He is also a Trustee of Dogs for the Disabled.
Dr Jean Yeoh joins the Board as a lay member, advising specifically on library matters. She recently retired from King’s College London as Director of Information Services and Systems.
She brings an excellent understanding of the challenges and strategies related to managing important archives and special collections, as well as skills in strategic planning and business management for libraries in the 21st century.
Nick Short, Head of Electronic Media at the Royal Veterinary College, is to join as a Co-opted Trustee until June 2010. Nick is a qualified vet and worked overseas for ten years before returning to academia.
He was a founding member of the charity Vetaid, and helped to start up WikiVet, a new global online resource for veterinary education.
