New animal welfare quarterly update from RCVS Library & Information Service
12 December 2002
Need to keep up to date in a subject area? Swamped by masses of information? Too many names ahead of yours on journal circulation lists?
If you need to keep up to date in a particular subject area for a certificate, diploma, research or for any other reason, then the RCVS Library & Information Service's quarterly subject updates are an ideal way to do so.
The quarterly updates are literature searches run on CAB Abstracts (the main veterinary and agricultural information database) in February, May, August and November. They are run on fairly broad subject areas, many corresponding to RCVS certificates and diplomas. Retrieval is in the form of a list of journal articles, most with abstracts, records of which have been added to the database over a three-month period.
Current subject areas, including the new Animal Welfare update, are:
Animal Welfare, BSE, Diseases of Psittacines, Diseases of Rabbits, Diseases of Reptiles,
Equine Orthopaedics, Equine Surgery, Small Animal Neurology, Small Animal Nutrition,
Small Animal Orthopaedics, Small Animal Surgery, Veterinary Anaesthesia,
Veterinary Cardiology, Veterinary Dermatology, Veterinary Ophthalmology, Veterinary Radiology.
The cost for updates in one subject is currently £30 per update, with further subjects charged at £15 per update. They are available throughout the year by email and photocopies of full articles can be supplied if required.
A sample of one of the updates may be downloaded here (PDF file - 62Kb) - please contact the Library if you would like to see samples from any other subject areas.
To subscribe to any of these updates, or to suggest a new subject area of your choice, please contact the library by e-mail, fax (020 7222 2004) or telephone (020 7222 2021).
