Find out what the RCVS does for you at BSAVA Congress
31 March 2003
Veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses and other delegates attending this year's BSAVA Congress in Birmingham (3-6 April) are warmly invited to visit the RCVS stand (C16 - opposite IDEXX) in the National Indoor Arena to find out more about the College and its activities. A number of RCVS Officers, Council Members and staff will be on hand all day for the duration of the exhibition to answer any questions you may have.
You may, for example, want to find out more about our current consultation on the Veterinary Surgeons Act, or on the Education Strategy Steering Group's proposals on the future of veterinary education and training. You may also want to ask questions about postgraduate qualifications, veterinary nurse training, the new Library & Information Service Membership Scheme, RCVS Trust Awards or the upcoming Council Election.
This year the RCVS Lecture - The Right to Practise - will be delivered by Professor Neil Gorman, Chairman of the ESSG on Friday 4 April, 3:10pm, in Hall 6. He will be talking about licences to practise in companion animals, revalidation in companion animal practice and the future of certificates relevant to those in the companion animal field. Other ESSG members will also be present to hear your views and answer your questions.
You may also like to attend a discussion forum by the Practice Standards Working Party on Friday 4 April, 11am, in Hall 6. The PSWP is hoping to issue a consultation on practice standards in the near future and will be seeking members' views in Birmingham on whether there should be amalgamated standards and a single inspectorate.
The RCVS is also involved in the launches of both a Veterinary Defence Society practical guide on "Communication in the consulting room" and an NSPCC leaflet advising professionals on the links between animal abuse, child abuse and domestic violence (see Latest News).
All in all, there should be plenty of opportunity to discuss RCVS activities and we would hope to be able to answer any questions you may have.
We look forward to seeing you in Birmingham.
