Final call for Trust Travel Scholarship applications
28 June 2007
The RCVS Trust would like to remind those veterinary surgeons who are considering applying for the second round of Travel Scholarships this year that the deadline for applications is 20 July 2007.
Travel scholarships are available for veterinary surgeons who wish to:
- attend international veterinary conferences
- pursue themes of clinical or non-clinical research involving short-term visits to veterinary or medical centres or research institutes abroad
Marnie Brennan who was awarded a Travel Scholarship in March said: "My RCVS Trust Travel Scholarship enabled me to attend a conference in Finland where I presented my PhD research in large animal epidemiology.
"These conferences are important not only for presenting your findings, but for generating new ideas about your work and examining what other research groups are doing around the world, potentially setting up collaborations with other researchers.
"From a personal perspective, learning about how others present their work and discussing new ideas with peers and colleagues puts you in a great position to generate future prospects."
Gerri McHugh, Director of RCVS Trust, added: "We now offer two Travel Scholarship rounds each year in order to meet the needs better of veterinarians looking to attend international conferences or study overseas.
"We are looking forward to receiving a large number of high-calibre applications in this current round which closes on 20 July."
Full details of the individual programmes can be found on the Trust's website or from the Trust Office (020) 7202 0741.
