RCVS Academy Update: May 2024
If you’ve been following the RCVS on social media throughout May, you will have seen the RCVS Academy’s Veterinary Nursing Awareness month (VNAM) celebrations. Each week we highlighted different Academy courses that supported the VNAM theme of 'progression'. The Academy has a wide range of free courses for the veterinary nursing profession, including 'RVN Starting Out', 'Clinical Supervisor', 'Nurse Return', 'Working in the UK for Veterinary Nurses' and many more.
The Academy has another reason to celebrate, with our second birthday on 20 June! Since its launch to the veterinary professions two years ago with just six courses, the Academy now boasts 25 courses ranging from 15 minutes in length to 20 hours, with over 21,000 course enrolments.
The platform offers learning and development for the veterinary professions to help meet professional standards and stay up to date with the latest developments. It has been designed to make learning accessible and flexible with both bite-sized and modular courses, containing videos, activities, scenarios and reflective practice.
Academy courses are completely free and aim to help veterinary professionals fit learning and development around their busy day-to-day schedules. All courses completed through the Academy can count towards annual RCVS CPD requirements and vets and nurses can easily add learning hours to their 1CPD account.
Over 14,000 learners now access the Academy to benefit from free, accessible CPD to support them in their roles as veterinary professionals.
Academy Manager Jennifer Ayers said: “I’m delighted that the learning we create continues to attract and support new vets and nurses within their roles. We are dedicated to providing courses that respond to feedback and remain relevant, engaging and accessible. We look forward to another year of increasing our offering through new topics and reaching more learners.”
