RCVS Academy update - March 2025
This month, the RCVS Academy marked National Careers Week, a time to celebrate career guidance and explore exciting professional development opportunities. The Academy is proud to support the ongoing career growth of veterinary professionals through the diverse range of free courses we offer.
Whether you’re aiming to expand your expertise, return to practice, or keep up with your CPD requirements, our courses are designed to help you progress. For those aspiring to move into leadership roles, our 'Leadership and Coaching' category provides valuable resources, including courses such as Mentorship, VetGDP Adviser, Principles of delegation, and Leadership vs management.
We also offer career support courses such as:
- CPD: Record and reflect – Understand your CPD obligations and stay on track.
- Working in the UK for veterinary surgeons and nurses – Essential for overseas-qualified professionals looking to register and work in the UK.
- Nurse return – For veterinary nurses returning to clinical practice after a break.
The Academy is also developing an exciting new course – ‘Vet return’, aimed at supporting veterinary surgeons returning to clinical practice after a break. Keep an eye on our social channels for updates on the course launch.
For those who thrive in an interactive learning environment, the Academy’s new ‘Academy Live’ sessions offer a unique opportunity to engage in real-time discussions with experts and fellow professionals. We have some fantastic sessions coming up in May to celebrate VN Awareness month:
- 1pm on Thursday 8 May 2025, 'Working in the UK for overseas qualified veterinary professionals', with speakers Vicky Hedges and Claire Hobson
- 1pm on Thursday 15 May 2025, 'Professional development as a RVN – finding your niche', with speaker Shirley Gibbins
- 1pm on Tuesday 20 May 2025, 'Tackling tutorials', with speakers Sophie Geake, Jasmine Curtis and Tori Thornton
- 1pm on Wednesday 28 May 2025, 'What do RVNs want to see in the future of the profession?', with speaker Jill Macdonald
