RCVS Academy update: April 2024
The RCVS Academy will be celebrating Veterinary Nurse Awareness month (VNAM) this May by showcasing courses dedicated to supporting the progression of veterinary nurses.
This May marks 20 years since VNAM began, starting out as Veterinary Nursing Awareness Day in 2004 and since 2012 the campaign has evolved to a whole month of celebrations.
The theme of VNAM this year is ‘Progression’ which aims to highlight the diverse range of skills, abilities, and progression into various career pathways for veterinary nurses.
Progression is a fundamental principle for the RCVS Academy, creating courses to enhance veterinary nurses’ learning. Free online learning supports career progression, offering courses such as ‘RVN starting out’ to support newly qualified nurses; ‘Clinical Supervisor’ to learn how best to support the RVNs of the future; and ‘Nurse return’, for veterinary nurses returning to clinical practice after a break. ‘Working in the UK’ supports overseas nurses joining the UK Register. For nurses aspiring to progress to leadership roles, we offer leadership and coaching courses.
Follow our social media platforms, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X during the month of May for more information on these veterinary nurse courses.
You can access the RCVS Academy using your ‘My Account’ login details, where you will be able to access the courses mentioned above for free.
If you have any questions about the Academy or any suggestions for improvement, we would love to hear from you. Please contact [email protected]
