Details
Through undertaking this course, participants will use their training from MHFA to recognise mental health issues amongst their peers and themselves. It will illustrate effective signposting to appropriate services and a greater understanding of mental wellbeing and illness while strengthening a culture of recognising the importance of mental wellbeing.
The MHFA training course is open to all members of the veterinary profession, including veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses, students and practice managers. We would particularly welcome those working in rural areas.
Learning outcomes
- An understanding of what mental health is and how to challenge stigma
- Knowledge and confidence to advocate for mental health awareness
- Ability to spot the signs of mental ill health
- Skills to support positive wellbeing
- Confidence to support someone who is in distress or may be experiencing a mental health issue
