MMI and VN Futures: Student Veterinary Nursing Wellbeing Discussion Forum
Date: Wednesday 3rd November 2021
Opening times: 10.00-15.15
Venue: Online
Details
The Mind Matters Initiative recently carried out a survey which invited student and newly-qualified veterinary nurses to answer questions about their mental wellbeing.
The results of the survey will be used to inform the future work of MMI and to tailor specific mental health and wellbeing support projects for the profession. The survey results indicated that there were several key issues impacting the mental health and wellbeing of student and newly-qualified VNs.
As a follow-up event to the survey, MMI, in collaboration with VN Futures, invite you to attend our free online Student Veterinary Nursing Wellbeing Discussion Forum to discuss the key challenges highlighted in the survey responses and to explore the ways in which they can be addressed.
Who can attend?
The day will be dedicated to student veterinary nurses, recently qualified veterinary nurses, clinical coaches and educators. Spaces are limited and offered on a first-come first-served basis so please book your place early to avoid disappointment!
Format for the day
The day will centre around key discussion topics:
- The Mind Matters Initiative
- Incivility and Bullying – recognition and becoming an ally
- Juggling Demands - balancing study, work, and personal life
- Raising Awareness and Encouraging Pride in the Veterinary Nursing Profession
- Disability and Chronic Illness – creating inclusive environments
Expert speakers and discussion groups
An expert speaker will introduce each theme with a 15-minute talk and participants will then move into small discussion groups to explore each topic further and find practical solutions to the issues facing the profession.
Additionally, the MMI Team will share the results of the SVN Wellbeing Survey during the day and offer information on the resources available to support the profession.
If you have any questions about the event, please contact Lisa Quigley, MMI Manager, on [email protected].
We look forward to seeing you there!
