Dealing with difficult situations in your first few months of practising - Part two
Date: Thursday 27th January 2022
Opening times: 19:15-20:30
Venue: Online via Zoom
Details
Following the success of part one of the ‘Dealing with Difficult Situations’ webinar series held in December, we will be hosting part two on Thursday, 27 January at 7:15pm.
We recognise that starting in your first job as a veterinary surgeon after graduation is exciting, but the first few months in practice can be daunting too.
To support you in this journey, this webinar will feature other recent graduates sharing some of the challenging situations they themselves have faced, how they dealt with them and reflecting on what they learned and how it changed their future practice.
If you are are a veterinary student or have recently joined the RCVS Register, you can register to join part two of the ‘Dealing with Difficult Situations in your first few months of practising’ webinar.
Learning outcomes
The aim of the webinar is not only to provide some practical guidance on how to deal with difficult situations in a pragmatic way should they arise, but also provide some reassurance that you are not alone in facing them.
The webinar will also explore how the speakers have reflected on the difficult circumstances they have encountered in order to build up the knowledge, confidence and resilience to deal with similar situations in the future.
Hear from recent graduates about their experiences
Among those sharing the situations they’ve encountered are:
Bolu Eso, who graduated from Budapest in 2019 and works in small animal practice in London.
Johannah Maxwell, who graduated from Liverpool University in 2020 and now works for the Blue Cross in a small animal practice.
Topics covered will include:
- Client confidentiality
- Euthanasia
Our Head of Legal (Standards) Gemma Kingswell, will then explore these scenarios further in reference to the Code of Professional Conduct for Veterinary Surgeons and its Supporting Guidance, and what these say about how best to handle difficult situations.
Ask your question!
If you have any questions around the RCVS Code of Professional Conduct and its Supporting Guidance please submit them at the time of registering and we will answer them during the evening.
There will also be regular Q&A sessions throughout the webinar.
We do hope you can join us for what we hope will be a very informative event that will help you understand how to plan for, and making decisions during, some of the difficult situations you may encounter in practice.
If you have any questions about the webinar please contact Emma Lockley.
