Academy Live: VN External Examiner
Date: Monday 25th November 2024
Opening times: 13:00 - 14:00
Venue: Online
Details
This Academy Live session provides you with an opportunity to learn with and from your VN External Examiner peers.
Who is this for:
This session is for New and existing VN External Examiners
Utilising a seminar type approach, we will cover the value of the role, and examples of how you can improve your approach, considering the elements you have learnt from the course.
Additionally, we will discuss specific areas of the Standards that are routinely harder to evidence, or generally demonstrate poorer compliance, with a peer-learning discussion on how you can support improvements.
This session is designed to be interactive and developmental – there will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and engage with your peers.
Learning outcomes:
- Consider and discuss the four pillars of the role, why these are important and what these look like to you.
- Identify challenging areas of the Standards, the evidence requests to support this and the opportunity to consider report phrasing to better communicate the issues.
Session speaker
Shirley Gibbins BSc (Hons) RVN, RCVS Qualifications Lead
Shirley is an RVN with educational, quality assurance and quality improvement experience. In her current role as Qualifications Lead, Shirley strives to support and guide the development of training programmes for veterinary nurses, both licence to practise and post-registration. Within this aim, Shirley believes that effective communication is key and endeavours to have open and frank conversations with colleagues in the educational space, identifying areas for improvement and then collaboratively working towards effective solutions that still champion our key values as veterinary professionals.
