Biography

Richard graduated from Cambridge University, and has worked in the orthopaedic clinic at the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals, Royal Veterinary College since 2008. He became a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2012, holds RCVS recognised specialist status, and received Fellowship of the RCVS in 2020.

Richard is currently Head of Orthopaedics at the RVC, and is particularly interested in traumatology and joint surgery. Additionally, Richard is the Scientific Chair for the British Veterinary Orthopaedic Association (BVOA), and an associate clinical editor for the Veterinary Record. He has a PhD on stem cell biology/regenerative medicine and runs a stem cell clinic at the RVC. He lectures nationally and internationally, and is involved in training surgical residents and veterinary undergraduates.

Richard has published over 80 peer reviewed papers and abstracts on a variety of topics relating to veterinary orthopaedic surgery, regenerative medicine, orthopaedic disease epidemiology and osteoarthritis, with an emphasis on One Medicine.
