Biography
Nicola graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2002 and spent several years in private practice before moving to a PDSA Pet Hospital where she became Senior Veterinary Surgeon. She then moved into a central role at the charity, establishing PDSA's policy, research and community outreach and education programmes, as Head of Pet Health and Welfare. She launched the first ever PDSA Animal Wellbeing (PAW) Report in 2010, aiming to track and drive change in small animal care in the UK. Alongside this she was a Trustee for the BVA Animal Welfare Foundation and completed her Diploma in Management Studies.
In 2018 she took on her first CEO role at assistance dog charity Canine Partners, and became Chair of Trustees at Assistance Dogs UK, a coalition of accredited assistance dog charities. After 4 years she moved to the CEO role at International Cat Care, focused on increasing the reach and impact of educational and advocacy activities to improve feline welfare through veterinary and wider audiences globally. She is passionate about the difference charities can make in tackling societal challenges, and the impact collaboration and human behaviour change considerations can have in driving improvement in deep rooted animal welfare issues.
