Biography

Since qualifying from Glasgow Vet School (1994) Mary worked in mixed and small animal practice, completed the RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Dermatology and a PhD in Canine Atopic Dermatitis. She then moved to veterinary nursing education in 1999, and more recently worked in Innovation (Stirling University) and now human medical education with The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.
Mary co-developed two City & Guilds qualifications for vet nurses in exotics and emergency care (for Vets Now Ltd). From 2009-2012 she ran her own small animal practice and now runs her own veterinary education company. She has published over 100 papers, book chapters/books and currently lectures on Evidence Based Practice for Glasgow University’s Veterinary Nursing MSc programme.

She has contributed to a number of veterinary organisations over the years, is a Member of the Academy of Medical Educators, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and sits on the ISVPS Academic Board.

Her main areas of interest are Clinical Decision Making, One Medicine and Medical / Veterinary Education.
