Biography
After qualifying in 1989, Clive trained as a specialist in small animal internal medicine, becoming the first person to become a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine from training outside of the USA.
He holds a Masters in Immunology from King’s College London and a PhD from The Royal Veterinary College.
Clive was founding chairman of the Small Animal Medicine Society and has served on numerous committees with the European and American Colleges of Veterinary Internal Medicine, the British Small Animal Veterinary Association, the British College of Veterinary Specialists and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. He has been an examiner for ECVIM and RCVS Diplomas.
Clive was a Trustee of the British College of Veterinary Specialists until 2020 and served as Treasurer during that period.
In 2009, Clive was awarded the Melton Award from the BSAVA for meritorious contributions to small animal practice.
Clive practised as a specialist in private practice for 20 years and from 2010-2019 was Managing Director of a large (180 staff) veterinary referral practice, where he developed his interest in and experience of professional leadership.
Clive is a Trustee of the assistance dog charity, Canine Partners.
Clive now concentrates his time on executive coaching, leadership development and strategy.
