Biography
Rita graduated from the University of Lisbon in 2003 and then worked in general practice in Yorkshire. She completed a rotating internship at the Animal Health Trust followed by a residency in veterinary neurology and masters in veterinary medicine at the University of Glasgow. She then moved to the University of Liverpool in 2009 where she is a Senior Lecturer in Veterinary Neurology and the Head of the Neurology and Neurosurgery service. After many years in academia, she still thoroughly enjoys teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students. She is close to completing a part-time PhD investigating prognostic factors in meningoencephalitis of unknown origin (MUO) in dogs and her main area of research is inflammatory brain disease in dogs.
